Thank you for this article, manure is a major problem for us, and will only get worse. It sounds like more animals will happen…but… we’re not making any more land. Living in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, gives me a little experience on this issue. One thing I wish we could get help with is the CANCER PROBLEMS…why can’t the Health Dept. get the information on how many cases have been reported by ZIP CODE inquiries…no names…no addresses…just by Zip Code? How hard would that be for the computer experts…really..? Our group has been testing water up here for over 20 years…working for the EPA…DNR…STATE…COUNTY AND UNIVERSITIES. This county has over 120,000 cows and about 20,600 people…17 CAFO’s and hundreds of small farms. LIQUID MANURE is the problem…not the number of cows…the problem is with their…OWNERS. Farmers created liquid manure for several reasons…cost and convenience…they own it..! Why should the public have to pay for any well repairs…why do we need LAWYERS to get clean water..? So many questions…and FARMERS know how to fix it…will they…should they…WHY NOT..?
